How to make High On Life’s irritating gun shut up for one damn second

It’s … a lot

Jeffrey Parkin (he/him) has been writing video game guides for Polygon for almost seven years. He has learned to love just about every genre of game that exists.

In High On Life, your gun-slash-sidekick Kenny provides a running commentary on, well, everything. He and his fellow Gatlians are constantly chiming in during combat. Or while you’re walking around. Or just whenever.

Between your gun, enemies, advertisements, and NPCs, it can be pretty overwhelming. In this High On Life settings guide, we’ll explain how to quiet down your gun and enemies a little.

Enemy and Gun Chatter setting

In the pause menu, select the second option, Audio. The last two options are Enemy Chatter and Gun Chatter. Each of these have three options: None, Occasional, and Frequent.

Both settings are on Frequent by default. Turning them both down to Occasional will give you a bit of a break from the constant dialogue. They’ll still pipe up pretty regularly, but it won’t be nearly as often.

Setting Gun Chatter to None will stop the Gatlians from talking during combat and exploration, but you’ll still get their dialogue during cutscenes and important in-game moments.

The next level of puzzles.
