I'd love to invite anyone to join me at Silicon Slopes tomorrow for a free lunch and discussion about AI and decision making. I believe this talk would benefit anyone currently serving or interested in an AI role, including product managers, engineering leadership, and strategy roles, as well as any executive leadership that is currently designing or deploying a AI roadmap at your company. Here's a preview from my research on AI and human decision making study: Finding #1: We are similar in how we trust AI to make decisions. Finding #2: Generally, we don't trust AI to make decisions for us...yet. Finding #3: When trusting AI, context matters. Finding #4: There are pathways of trust for AI and decision making. Finding #5: Even in contexts where humans would struggle to make decisions, they don’t always inherently trust AI. In my talk, I will (1) show you the data that led to these findings, (2) convince you why understanding AI trust matters before you develop any AI product, (3) prescribe some practical actions for you to take in developing AI products that will ensure better adoption and (4) implore you to deliberately and responsibly adopt AI in your personal and professional lives, which is the mission of DrumData.ai.

I was always asking for more thorough analysis of the models instead of racing for bigger models because of some "religious promise" of an #emergence of #intelligence (BS, pardon my French!). The bigtech provided the high-priests promising this wonderland, I wonder why? People did not realize that they could continue research, because #bigtech was giving them #computation time for free... nothing is for free. It is actually not in interest of the bigtech to understand the models. Keeping them large reduces the number of places that can run such services. #DL community optimized itself out of the picture and now rings alarms. I was mentioning it for years. It became a product, you stopped doing any research on it at least 3 years ago, stop promoting this production as research. It actually became a product a longer time ago. You were helping refining and testing alternatives for this product. Application programming is product development. Maybe, it is time to actually admit that it is not #AI yet and start working on #understanding of and in the #DeepNets? We need to stop accepting applications as valid publications. This will hinder the smart heads to move to industry without losing their #publication record. If they want to go for money, be my guest. We made bigtech #applications development to "#research" and application development worth publishing. It is our fault. There used to be times, when industry was coming to universities for research results to apply them to products. Now, product development became research and universities cannot compete with salaries from the industry (not only big tech). It was achieved through heavy event #sponsoring. #academia
