The Chinese term “危机” has always fascinated me. It’s composed of two characters: one symbolizing “crisis” and the other representing “opportunity”. Copilot has assisted me in understanding that the most precise English translation for “危机” is “crisis”, a period marked by significant disagreement, confusion, or hardship. Reflecting on the journey from the project kick off, development, and delivery of Copilot+PC, I would describe it as a series of “危机”. These challenges placed our Device Technical Sales team, who work directly with our device partners, in demanding positions to execute our plan. However, these same challenges also presented us with rewarding opportunities that we could share with our partners. Amidst the confusion and hardship brought about by changes, we found immense opportunities to distinguish real problems from distractions and emotional arguments. This process has strengthened my resilience and enhanced our team’s professionalism in several areas. We’ve learned to swiftly devise contingency plans, handle escalations effectively, provide the leadership team with the latest insights for informed decision-making, and collaborate to create a larger impact than any individual could achieve. I respect all the decisions made by our leadership team and firmly believe they are in the best interest of our users. Our initial launch of Copilot+PC on Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite will undoubtedly offer us valuable lessons, both positive and negative, and will reinforce our position as AI leaders in both Cloud and Edge Devices. On behalf of my team, the design-in team working with multiple incredible partners, I want to express my gratitude to the product and R&D teams at Acer, Asus, and Samsung. Your countless sleepless nights and unwavering belief in us have not gone unnoticed. Google and Samsung have both filed patents for smart contact lenses with built-in cameras and now Sony has also joined the race. With advanced technology, the smart lenses will be able to distinguish between a natural blink of an eye and a deliberate one. Once the lenses detect a deliberate blink, they will activate a picture-taking or video-recording feature. You will be able to record videos and take photos with a small camera on top of your eye, all with a simple blink. A natural blink usually lasts 0.2 to 0.4 seconds, and a blink that exceeds 0.5 seconds can be identified as conscious. While Samsung previously announced similar technology, Sony's patent has a key difference: internal storage. Sony's smart lenses will allow you to store photos and videos directly in the contact lenses for fast and easy access to your media. The lenses will be equipped with tiny sensors (piezoelectric sensors) that can measure changes in temperature, pressure, acceleration, or force by converting them to an electrical charge. These sensors will read the eye movements of the wearer and activate the recording feature. To charge power to the lenses, Sony has installed an antenna capable of wirelessly receiving energy from an external device such as a smartphone or tablet. The lenses also feature a "tilt sensor" to adjust for the wearer's eye tilt and include autofocus and image stabilization features to address any blur caused by the eyeball's motion. These futuristic wearable technologies may seem like they are from a science fiction novel, but they may be closer to becoming a reality than we think...

🤬🫢 During a keynote I delivered in Brussels last week, every presenters worst nightmare happened - the AV system melted down. Here’s how it started. I start presenting. *click* - the slide doesn’t advance. *click* *click* *click* - no slide advance. My heart rate spikes. I keep presenting. The presentation decides to advance 10 slides forward from my talk track. *AV team scrambling in the box. I set the remote down. AV team gets me close to the slide in my presentation* *Awkward silence* I keep presenting. Cue video. Video won’t play. I improv with my movie trailer voice: “Imagine the best tech video you’ve ever seen with lasers and lights, incredible music, and now imagine #Snapdragon X Elite, a piece of technology that will fundamentally change the computing space forever.” The audience laughs. *More AV fumbling while the tech crew restarts their #PC complete with reboot sounds. All while the image below 👇 takes over the screen (hadn’t seen one of those in years)* I close with the key value proposition and take aways. 💥 Boom done. The feedback from the audience? They loved it 🥰 and thought the message was clear and succinct, even with AV issues. A couple of tips if you find yourself in this spot: ✅ Use humor. Everyone has been in this spot before and can identify with you. I definitely slipped in a joke about this not happening on a Snapdragon powered PC. ✅ Know your content well enough to present without slides ✅ Know your audience well enough to tailor your message ✅ Bottom line your takeaways.
