Tech is changing at a break-neck speed, product lifecycles are becoming shorter, and along with that, new challenges are coming up on the people management front as well. Today’s leader needs to experiment, fail fast, adopt and adapt faster and still keep the business moving in the positive direction. Large Language Models are the epitome of Lawful-Neutral! During a solution review at Majesco today, one of our leaders pointed out that prompt engineering for GPT-4 is a lot like giving instructions to a toddler; you must be specific, you must spell out a lot of background information, and you have to clarify things that should go without saying. With a toddler, it’s not enough to say “Put your toys away” if you don’t want all the toys to end up in the underwear drawer. With a coding LLM, it’s not enough to say “Here are three SQL queries, write a query that returns the combined results of all three”. Rather you should say “Write a query that returns the combined results of all three without repeating columns and without referring to the original queries”. This led me, for a moment, to think of the LLM’s behavior as malicious compliance, but I quickly realized that it is wrong to attribute malice to today’s LLMs. The reality is that LLMs are the epitome of Lawful-Neutral; They comply to the best of their abilities (and they have abilities!) and they do so in the most naïve way. Not good, not evil, perfectly neutral. It’s up to us to tip them in the right direction. #AI #LLM #GPT #GPT4 #Coding

Rupert Spira is one of the leading lights of Advaita vedanta in present times. The words he speaks come directly from the source (infinity) and have the potency to lead you to infinity. The simplicity and clarity of the teachings is remarkable. Advaita provides an effective solution to the problem of pain and suffering. Human life is such that pain and suffering can not be avoided altogether. There are ways to get temporary relief but that's not a true solution. Through Advaita one can transcend pain and suffering. It's a paradigm shift because it does nothing to the pain and suffering but alters ones identification with it. This directly reduces the effect pain and suffering has on one. Advaita also addresses the perennial problem of search for happiness in outside things by conclusively showing that you are the source of what you are searching. Understanding this knowledge and living it gives instant peace and access to bliss. Highly recommend this beautiful and subtle piece of work by Rupert. ~S~
