The Global South appears to be leading Bitcoin trust levels. 23% self-declared 'tech-savvy' consumers from Nigeria use Bitcoin every day, compared to those in Germany (just 8%) and the UK (9%). 48% Nigerians use the currency to send/receive money from abroad compared to just 18% Germans and 20% Britons; while more than half tech-savvy Brazilians (51%) and 49% Nigerians use it to store savings, compared to 27% of South Koreans. https://lnkd.in/daabprPW

Introducing the BIT Index; the industry's first measure of who is actually using Bitcoin and why. In a World – and especially media – apparently obsessed with the (current) price of Bitcoin, we are proposing another form of measurement: who is using Bitcoin, what for and why . . .  Our inaugural index provides some fascinating insights into why Nigerians are turning to the currency (cross border remittances), and which countries would prefer to entrust their life savings to Bitcoin than their own national currencies (take a look, you may be surprised).
