We were delighted to take part in today's Hedge Fund Middle East Summit organised by With Intelligence in partnership with the DIFC. Our Chief Executive Ian Johnston gave a keynote speech during the opening, where he discussed the DIFC being a leading regional centre for the managers of hedge funds. Mr Johnston also detailed the strong pipeline of applicants at various stages, and the continued interest from both US and Asia. In 2023, the DFSA noted a remarkable increase in Asset Managers and Hedge Fund Managers establishing presence in the DIFC, with the latter registering 125% year-on-year growth. To discuss this growth and answer some audience questions, our Director of Conduct Supervision Christian Cameron sat alongside Muneer Khan on the 'Spotlight on manager & fund structuring' panel moderated by Chude C. During the panel, Christian shared insights on the various initiatives the DFSA is taking to ensure that the DFSA can accommodate a fast-evolving financial landscape. We would like to draw your attention to a scam in which a legitimate DIFC incorporated and DFSA regulated Firm called Kane LPI Solutions Ltd, has been impersonated.   The scammers advertise via Facebook where, once the investor clicks through on the advertisement, they are prompted to fill out a contact form. Details from this contact form are then used to contact investors via Telegram and telephone.   In addition, the scammers use fake names, websites, and DFSA references, even employing fake stamps and screen-sharing software.   We strongly advise that individuals should not respond to any communications regarding this scam, and under no circumstances should they send any money to the scammers.
