Apple‘s ambitious mixed reality headset will hit stores next month.
The tech giant said Monday that the Apple Vision Pro will launch on Feb. 2, with preorders opening on Jan. 19.
The headset, which includes elements of both augmented and virtual reality, is priced at $3,499, with a small additional cost for users that need prescription lenses or reading glass inserts.
The headset clearly has Hollywood in mind, with Apple touting it as the “ultimate entertainment experience.” Apple TV+, Disney+ and Max will be available at launch, it seems, with Apple touting that users will be able to watch movies and TV shows “on a screen that feels 100 feet wide with support for HDR content.”

Notably, Netflix was not included in the initial release, though Apple does say “other services” will be available.
In addition, Apple says that it will launch with some 150 3D titles in the Apple TV app, and will have Apple Immersive Video that will make the user feel like they are inside the program being viewed.
Vision Pro will also launch with about 250 Apple Arcade titles.
Apple announced the Vision Pro last June, at an event that saw Disney CEO Bob Iger join Apple CEO Tim Cook for the presentation.
“We’re constantly in search of new ways to entertain, inform and inspire our fans by combining extraordinary creativity was groundbreaking technology to create truly remarkable experiences,” Iger said. “And we believe Apple Vision Pro is a revolutionary platform that can make our vision a reality.”
Hollywood’s tech community was excited by the possibilities of the headset, even if they felt that it would take some time for it to find its footing. Indeed, a $3,500 price point may limit adoption until less expensive models become available.
“The era of spatial computing has arrived,” said Cook. “Apple Vision Pro is the most advanced consumer electronics device ever created. Its revolutionary and magical user interface will redefine how we connect, create and explore.”
