Prime Day monitor deals 2024: all the display discounts we expect this year

Samsung Monitors Prime Day

Prime Day monitor deals are a great way to grab your dream screen for less, whether you need a speedy gaming PC display or something for your PS5. If previous Amazon sales are anything to go by, some of the biggest brands slash massive amounts off their expensive screens, while cheaper options hit rock bottom prices. You could simply head over to the site on the day and wade through a sea of offers with no knowledge of price history or if what you're looking at is a good deal. However, we are already hard at work painting a picture of what to expect, as well as rounding up what display discounts will be worth your time.

Throughout the year, we test the best gaming monitor options to figure out which screens will boost your setup. We would still do this even if discounts weren't a thing, but we do like to take note of our favorites to watch out for when Prime Day gaming deals kick off. Simply put, we consistently keep an eye on the price of our top panels and check to see if they're sitting at their lowest price, which in turn comes in handy when rummaging through Amazon's annual event for the best possible offers.

We've still got a couple of months to go until Prime Day monitor deals actually grace the storefront, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The extra time means we can continue to hunt for regular deals and build an idea of what to expect in 2024. Not only have we kept a record of last year's best prices, but we've also whipped up some analysis below based on incoming models and discounts that have already occurred this year.

What to expect from Prime Day Monitor deals 2024?

ASUS Gaming monitors

Screens of all shapes, sizes, and specs will drop in price during Prime Day, and we've witnessed some spectacular savings in previous years. From whopping ultrawide panels like the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 (down from $2,299.99 to $1,308.63) to the super cheap ASUS VP228QG, there's usually something to fit most budgets.

Naturally, the biggest discounts apply to premium models, with close to $1,000 off some of the most expensive models out there. That said, you don't have to spend thousands to get a chunk off, with options like the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 dropping to under $1,000 thanks to a $450 price cut last year For some, being able to grab a screen for under a specific budget threshold is a must, and Prime Day seems to always feature those sorts of deals.

At the mid to entry level side of things, you're more likely to save between $80-150 on most monitors. By in large, screens at this price point are either 1080p or 1440p, but often feature faster refresh rates and useful PC gaming features. The Acer ED273U Abmiipx serves as a nice example of what's possible during a Prime Day event, as Amazon dropped its price from $259.99 to $173.95. A pretty nifty saving on a curved 75Hz display, and one that's sure to appeal to lower spec PC gamers and anyone looking for an affordable desktop PS5 monitor

One thing that is worthwhile is considering lesser known brands. Don't get us wrong, we'd advise against jumping at deals that are too good to be true, but there are displays out there that cost far less despite featuring fantastic specs. A great example is the KTC G27P6, a screen that uses the same LG OLED panel as the Corsair Xeneon 27QHD240 and is known to drop under $600 even outside of Prime Day. We'll be keeping a close eye on this great value display, as it could be one of the best deals this year.

We've highlighted a number of last year's best Prime Day monitor deals below. We'll likely see something similar on the newer models too.  It's also worth noting that anything older will probably be best when it comes to value for money. This is because of the general fall in price in addition to the Prime Day sales. So anything from 2022 or 2023 is probably a good shout.

What to expect from Prime Day portable monitor deals

ASUS ROG Strix 17.3" portable monitor with purple backdrop

If you're looking to free yourself from the tyranny of desktop cables, Prime Day portable monitor deals might be on your mind. Luckily, there are options out there that'll help you cut the cord, and the suspect a few might show up for the big event.

There are a variety of unknown and budget brands out there, and you might already be eyeing up a bargain screen. However, if you're holding out for something by a well known brand, you'll want to keep an eye on the likes of ASUS' ROG Strix 17.3-inch portable monitor. Armed with a 240Hz panel, this on-the-go solution has what it takes to keep up with dedicated desktop displays, and its built in battery will provide up to three hours of cordless performance using the faster refresh rate.

It's also worth keeping an eye out for the Jsaux FlipGo, a dual portable monitor that works great with laptops and PC. The mobile screen hasn't hit Amazon as of yet, but when it does, it's a strong contender for a Prime Day discount.

FAQ

When will Prime Day monitor deals begin?

Amazon has confirmed that Prime Day 2024 will kick off in July, but we're still waiting on an exact date. Typically, the event takes place in the second week of the month, so you could provisionally circle that on your calendar. That said, not all the best offers are reserved for the annual event, so it's worth checking back here for early savings and discounts.

Do you need a Prime membership for Prime Day monitor deals?

Yes, Prime Day monitor deals are only available to Prime subscribers, but there's a way to gain access for free. If you've new to the service, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial, and you'll be able to cancel before any monthly costs kick in. That way, you'll get free next day delivery on any discounted screens you come across, and specific discounts will become available to you.

We'd also advise keeping an eye out for deals elsewhere too. Walmart, Best Buy, and various other rivals have a habit of launching their own deals in line with Prime Day events, and sometimes the offers are better. This could be a great option if you're not into the idea of signing up for Amazon Prime, so keep your options open in terms of retailers.

But even if you're not interested in sticking with it, just go for the trial and then cancel it. Sign up then cancel before the $14.99/£7.99 per month cost kicks in.

What monitors are the cheapest during Prime Day?

For the most part, the cheapest monitors during Prime Day will be older 1080p models that already feature a low price tag. In the past we've witnessed screens that cost around $120 drop below $100, while more expensive screens receive a larger discount proportionate to their price tag.

What monitor brand is most reliable?

Some of our favorite brands include Acer, Asus,, Alienware, Dell, Samsung, and LG, and you've likely heard of many longstanding companies. That said, there are some options out there without a recognisable brand that provide a good experience, and Prime Day often features deals on these models. For the most part, we'd advise sticking to products we've tested, as that way you can rest assured they are good quality.

Is 144Hz gaming monitor worth it?

A 144Hz gaming monitor is absolutely worth the investment if you play first-person shooters, battle royales, or similar online games with competitive elements. Not only does the responsiveness give you an edge over monitors with lesser displays but it generally creates a better overall experience by being able to keep up with the action. It's ideal for games like Apex Legends, Call of Duty: Warzone, or Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege.

I’ve been messing around with PCs, video game consoles, and tech since before I could speak. Don’t get me wrong, I kickstarted my relationship with technology by jamming a Hot Wheels double-decker bus into my parent’s VCR, but we all have to start somewhere. I even somehow managed to become a walking, talking buyer’s guide at my teenage supermarket job, which helped me accept my career fate. So, rather than try to realise my musician dreams, or see out my University degree, I started running my own retro pop culture site and writing about video games and tech for the likes of TechRadar, The Daily Star, and the BBC before eventually ending up with a job covering graphics card shenanigans at PCGamesN. Now, I’m your friendly neighbourhood Hardware Editor at GamesRadar, and it’s my job to make sure you can kick butt in all your favourite games using the best gaming hardware, whether you’re a sucker for handhelds like the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch or a hardcore gaming PC enthusiast.
