Massive Samsung Leak Exposes Galaxy S24 AI Features

Following

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S24 smartphones want to mix innovative hardware with revolutionary software. Now, we have more details on the AI that will lie at the heart of the handsets.

The details come from the leaks around Samsung’s One UI software. This is Samsung’s take on Android and is the OS behind all of the Galaxy smartphones. One UI 6.1 is expected to debut with the launch of the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra in January 2024. Three leaked features are using Gauss—Samsung’s AI software revealed in November.

The first is generative wallpaper. While Samsung’s default wallpapers are themed to the handset, this new application takes two cues for foreground and background objects to create a personal touch that will be unique. A secondary function will allow weather effects to be added to the lock screen and standby screen images.

Then, you have the ability to summarise notes taken by the user, reducing them from large blocks of text to a short bullet-point list of the topics. It can also help format handwritten notes into blocks of text… presumably, you can use the AI again to get to the bullet points.

The final feature will be the most impressive and the easiest to promote. The photo editing software will allow you to drag and drop individual objects around the image or into another image. The generative image processing will fill in any gaps created by this editing and create new details around the border if you rotate or reposition your image,

AI-based techniques are going to be introduced by every Android manufacturer over the next few months. Google started the marketing by branding the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro as “AI-first smartphones”. Other manufacturers will follow that lead, helped by the inclusion of AI-focused silicon from leading chip manufacturers such as Qualcomm and Mediatek.

The Galaxy S24 family, including the S24 Ultra and S24+, will launch in early 2024 at a “Galaxy Unpacked” event widely expected to occur on January 17th.

Now read how Samsung is changing the design of the Galaxy S24 Ultra to accommodate an essential hardware upgrade...
