Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics releasing in 2024

During today's Nintendo Direct presentation, the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics was announced. However, it turns out that this collection will also be releasing for the PlayStation 4 and Steam. Oddly, it's not available for the PlayStation 5, but the PlayStation 5 is backwards compatible with the PlayStation 4 anyhow.

The first game that's part of the collection is X-Men: Children of the Atom. Though this is just a fighting game that mostly features X-Men characters, it's the game that technically started of the Marvel vs. Capcom crossover series considering that Street Fighter's Akuma is accessible as a secret fighter.

Marvel Super Heroes is also featured in the collection. This is a fighting game in which players go at it exclusively as Marvel characters, which includes a number of villains like Thanos, Magneto, and Juggernaut.

X-Men vs. Street Fighter is the first true crossover that paved the way for the Marvel vs. Capcom series. Eventually, this would evolve in to the next game that's part of the collection, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter.

Fans will also get access to Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Notably, there are many players that take playing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 seriously even today as it even had a presence at Evo 2023

Finally, the seventh game of the collection is The Punisher. Technically speaking, this is actually a beat 'em up type game rather than a traditional fighting game.

The announcement of this collection comes as quite a surprise considering that it was believed that Capcom and Disney's relationship had become strained since the flop of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Regardless, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is slated to be released sometime this year.

Features included in this collection are rollback netcode, global leaderboards, training modes, spectator modes, music juke boxes, in-game art museums, filters, and more. Check it all out below:
