Ed teaser trailer released for Street Fighter 6, character releasing in February
Capcom has offered new information on the next Street Fighter 6 DLC character, Ed, as they've released his character trailer.
Not only does this trailer show off the Street Fighter 5 original character with his updated look, it also announces his release month to be February of 2024.
As we saw with A.K.I.'s teaser, this looks to a new scene from an updated World Tour Mode (Street Fighter 6's main singe player adventure) where the player is on a subway train in Metro City.
A sudden jolt of the train car (this seems to be a motif in the short scene) causes the player avatar to stumble as the sound of stampeding footsteps begin to ring through the otherwise empty series of cars.
For the first time ever we get to see the Street Fighter 6 model of Ed in action as he runs into frame and intuitively grabs one of the empty handles just before the train experiences another jolt. A collection of Mad Gear box heads in hot pursuit fail to do the same, and wind up stumbling as a result.
A brawl ensues as Ed shows off both his quick foot and handwork, weaving, dodging, and boxing his way through the fight. Another jolt gives Ed the opening he needs to finish off the final two members of the group, but in true fighting game fashion, this just triggers the big boss battle.
A hulking box head enters the car (Abigail definitely comes to mind, though likely not who we're dealing with here) and aims to give Ed the business. Spoilers, he doesn't, as yet another bump in road causes the gargantuan to stumble, giving Ed time to zip behind his foe and lay into his lower back with a Psycho Power-infused punch.
He shows off yet another one of his abilities as he then uses his Psycho Power to cast out an ensnaring web to catch and pull his foe back in his direction. One more punch leads us to a blackout screen that's eventually populated with text informing us that Ed is coming out in February.
The whole thing goes by fairly quickly with a lot of quick-cut action editing, so here are a few stills so you can get a good idea of what Ed looks like this time around:

Players can access the new fighter via the Year 1 Character Pass or purchased separately for 350 Fighter Coins, which equates to around $7 USD.
