Pokemon Go May 2024 Spotlight Hour schedule

Niantic has revealed the Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour schedule for May 2024, with Mareanie, Hitmonchan, and more having a boosted chance of appearing.

The Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour is a popular weekly event that Niantic hosts in Pokemon Go. Each week, a different Pokemon will get a turn in the limelight, offering highly boosted spawn rates and a special double bonus.

For one hour, Trainers will get the chance to catch as many of that specific species as they can, offering the perfect opportunity to fill out your Pokedex and earn enough Candy to evolve that Pokemon.

Like the monthly Community Days, these Pokemon Go events are designed to allow Trainers to catch, evolve, and battle with the community.

Here’s everything you need to know about the May 2024 Spotlight Hour schedule.

When is the next Pokemon Spotlight Hour? Date, time & bonus

Niantic has confirmed that the next Spotlight Hour will feature Elgyem and go live on May 21, 2024. This Pokemon will be appearing more frequently in the wild for a short period of time, between 6PM and 7PM local time.

This means you’ll be able to take part and catch it wherever you are in the world. On top of that, players can also grab double the Stardust for catching Pokemon as part of the event bonuses.

Can Elgyem be Shiny in Pokemon Go?

Fortunately, the Shiny version of Elgyem is currently available in Pokemon Go.

How to prepare for the Elgyem Spotlight Hour in Pokemon Go

As the Spotlight Hours only last for 60 minutes, there are a number of things you can do to prepare in order to make sure you don’t waste any precious time:

  • Make sure you have enough Poke Balls to catch multiple Spotlight Hour Pokemon.
  • Make sure you have enough Berries to get double Candy or make catching easier.
  • Clear out your Pokemon Storage Box to make room for all the Pokemon you’ll catch.
  • Save up your PokeCoins and purchase an Incense for the event.
  • As this event involves double XP for evolving Pokemon, tag a large selection of Pokemon you have that are ready to evolve to save you searching during Spotlight Hour

Alongside these tips, Spotlight Hours are the perfect opportunity to use any spare items like Lucky Eggs or Star Pieces to increase the XP and Stardust you’ll earn during the event.

Spotlight Hour Spawn Rate & Shiny Rate

The spawn rate of each Spotlight Hour Pokemon is boosted for 60 minutes during these events, meaning you’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch each species, especially if you’re using Incense and Lures.

While Spotlight Hours won’t increase a Pokemon’s individual Shiny rate, the fact that you’re encountering so many of them means you’re more likely to find one during a Spotlight Hour than during regular hours. If you’re planning on using Spotlight Hours to Shiny hunt, the best approach is to use an Incense and go exploring.

Tap on every Pokemon you see, and if they aren’t Shiny, don’t bother catching them – just leave and keep searching. Remember that you can now use Pokedex classifications to single out your Shiny Pokemon collection, which is helpful if you’re trying to catch ’em all.

That’s everything you need to know about the Pokemon Go Spotlight Hours for May 2024. Every week will feature a different Pokemon and event bonus, so come back later in the month for more details!
