Pokemon Go players fear shiny Raid odds might be “rigged”
NianticTrainers have been completing loads of Raids lately in Pokemon Go, and some players have noticed something concerning regarding the shiny odds for the Raid Pokemon.
In case you are fighting your way through Pokemon Go‘s Sinnoh Go Tour event, you might have noticed that the odds for shiny Raid Pokemon are quite low. There have been a lot of complaints lately about the mechanics behind shiny spawns, and of course, the way the game determines the rewards the players get.
For some players, managing a perfect catch, or getting their prized shiny Legendary, is all the reason they need to keep playing the game. However, some players have begun to feel that the game is playing tricks with them. Call it a streak of bad luck, or just RNG, the merciless reward system of Pokemon Go has earned a poor reputation among fans of the Pokemon-catching mobile game.
Pokemon Go player and Reddit user ‘Sleepdepr1ved_idk’ shared his thoughts on the current shiny odds of the game’s Raids, and stated: “Guys don’t worry the shiny isn’t released yet.”
One of the trainers commenting on the post said: “I did 75 raids!!! No f*cking shiny. Did they forget about it?” This was a reference to a time when Niantic miscalculated the release of Tornadus Therian and released it without its shiny form, though it was supposed to be otherwise.
Some players theorized that devs might have been lowering the chances of players getting shiny Pokemon, and went so far as saying that raids were “rigged”: “Niantic always lowers shiny chances during events to sell more passes. Rigged and you know it.” While another one also expressed: “Took me 76 raids to get a shiny Palkia, got 2 shiny Dialgas within 50 raids.
Many players had similar ideas to the OP’s, and shared how many raids they successfully completed, only to find a low IV Legendary, and not even a single shiny one. But the truth behind the OP’s apparent streak of bad luck could be darker than they think.
Rigged or not, Origin Palkia and Dialga raids are tremendously hard to defeat with less than 5 players, so if you are thinking of tackling one of those, gather your friends before the time is up.
