This is a promotional release from Diageo for the Game of Thrones television series on HBO. This comes to us from Clynelish. While it's a NAS release, it features a hefty ABV bump over the OB Clynelish 14. It's been more than a year since I had and reviewed this right after launch, and it was poured for me, so I thought it may be a nice exercise in palate evolution.

  • Excerpt: So, are the Tyrell's villains? As far as Clynelish is concerned, I’m sorry but this is not exactly my thing. Reminds me a bit of the late 1970s vintages.

  • Excerpt: The finish isn’t exactly what I would call the strongest, and it doesn’t really provide new discoveries to unearth. Not the best Clynelish I’ve ever had, but certainly far from the worst.

  • Excerpt: Overall, a big fan of this. I think it may be my favorite of the releases I've had from the GoT line, but I still need to try one or two.

Fresh baked bread, honey, toffee, waxy fruits like apple and pear. Faint ash, light pepper, nice light sherry note

  • Taste:

Rich palate, mild heat, but lots of complexity. Pepper, faint smoke, sweet honey and toffee. Faint plum, more fresh baked bread.

  • Finish:

Long, powerful and complex. Fresh baked bread, toffee, sweet creme brulee and faint ash. More nice pepper and even a faint bit of salinity. Waxy fruitiness.
